Who, out of the theory of the earth and of his or her body understands, by subtle analogies, all other theories,
The theory of a city, a poem, and of the large politics of these States;
…The past, the future, dwelling there, like space, inseparable together.
Walt Whitman, ‘Kosmos’
Video installations, koncerts, performances and photographic exhibitions
Collaborating with composer Ellen Birgitte Rasmussen and performance artist Nana-Francisca Schottländer on a research project exploring the artistic potential of co-creational encounters with the Danish Wadden Sea -a shallow body of water with tidal flats and wetlands in the southeastern part of the North Seas, rich in biological diversity and inscribed on UNESCO's World Heritage List. The outcome was a series of video works, photographs and compositions for chamber ensemble.
By interacting with the Wadden Sea we have tried to examine the relationship between humans and nature - including our own human nature. Through the tidal waters and wind, waves, patterns, repetition and variation, conflicts, unpredictability and beauty, we become aware of how small and unimportant we ourselves are, but also of what effects we humans are having on the world around us. We are part of this world, our earth, the universe, and it is part of us too. For me, it is at the same time a feeling of power and fragility.
